I FINALY got a chance to get on the beta servers . . and play.  The lag had been so bad this weekend that it was impossible to do anything.  So when all the kids went back to school I took the opportunity to log in on Monday to check it out again.

>[LFG] Izak: Looking for a healer for Nexus.
>[LFG] Paravel: I’d love to come give it a try, although I have not been in there yet.
>[LFG] Izak: I take it your resto?
>[LGF] Paravel: Yep
> Izak /invite Paravel
> /accept invite

And that is how it began.  My first Northrend instance, and first chance to heal with my new spec.  At first I was a little frustrated at loosing some of the spells I used to have in the balance tree.  They made it possible for me to be resto and solo or PvP.  Now it looked like I was being left out in the cold only to heal.  At honestly at this point the jury is still out. . but as for healing.  OH WOW!  But I should start with some basics.

When I logged in I looked at my character sheet.  As you know bonus to healing and bonus to spell damage is no longer a part of our gear.  It has all been wrapped up into a new system called spell power.  All my gear now has new stats.

If you mouse over the two lists you will notice that the bonus stats have changed.  When I looked at a few things I scratched my head.  One thing that I noticed is it looked like my mana regen while in combat had taken a hit.  I was a little worried.  But no need.

So now was the time to go into my first instance and heal.  It was like Christmas morning.  Nervouse, anxios, trying to re-read my tool tips on my new heals.  We started into the instance and had a ball.

Let’s take a look at some of the new heals and redone heals a druid now have.

Lifebloom:  My bread in butter in live.  I am constantly spamming lifebloom on the tank and those who might receive damage.  In live will cost you 220 mana and heal for 273 over 7 seconds, then hits them with 600 health at the end.  The WotLK version of Lifebloom, which now has 3 ranks, will cost 10% of your base mana and heal 280 over the 7 seconds.

Healing Touch: They have done some work on this heal that honestly I hardly used in live.  On live server its sometimes referred to as our “BIG” heal.  Only problem is I have to shift out of tree form to cast it and it takes forever and a day to cast.  Well in the beta Healing Touch will cost you 33% of your base mana and takes .5 second off the cast time.  And, it can be used IN tree form!  I used it last night for the first time and enjoyed the flexibility.

But I was more excited about this!

Flourish Wild Growth (EDIT- It was renamed in this mornings patch) We now have an AOE heal over time that has some serous teeth to it.  “Heals up to 5 friendly party or raid members within 15 yards of the target for 2212 over 7 sec. The amount healed is applied quickly at first, and slows down as the Flourish reaches its full duration.”

2212 over 7 seconds to 5 members!  That is stinking awesome.  I pulled that bad boy out a number of times last night in our 5 man and it was great!

Omen of Clarity had a wonderful do over as well.  I had skipped it in my live build as it would only proc if you where in mele.  Well as a tree I do my best to stay out of mele so it was pointless.  Now however it is a passive type spell that gives pretty much any of our damage a chance to put us in a clear casting state.  I love clear casting on my mage. Free mana is so wonderful!  I was enterint this state more times than I could keep count last night.  Lets just say mana was the least of my worries.

Last night we had a total of 2 deaths.  One was a ret pally who just bit off more than they could chew and I was unable to get to them in time, but hey, I got to use our new out of combat rez. *smile*  And myself when I pulled a dragon on our way to the last boss.  Oops.  Even with imp tree I still died. But hey, I lasted 3 hits to the old 1 hit from a 73 eleite.

You can watch the run as soon as it is done uploading to Vimeo.

More to come.  Still lots of resto goodies to talk about.

I am more excited than ever to get back into healing on Paravel.  Trees now have a wonderful arsonal of healing at our disposal.  I hope to get into more instance and really Link to heading
